The Grace of Gratefulness

As spring is rolling around the corner, the winter blues are slowly withdrawing.  A simple and somewhat easy tip to help push one’s mind further from a depressed status is to share 3 things you are thankful for each day. This helps to bring you out of your head and more into the present. Bringing your energy to a point where you can focus it into something more productive and away from creating self-deprecating talk. By writing down what you are grateful for, it allows us to realize what we do have, and appreciate each day that much more. So I’m going to get this ball rolling, and share with you at least 3 things that I am thankful for.

I am thankful for everything that Grand Avenue Pharmacy has provided me and the wonderful people who work there. For teaching me how to use the computer systems, putting up with my constant questions, the brilliant humor, to sharing your personal challenges and stories. I want to thank Kelly, Ian, Dianne and Reid for putting up with my changes and helping me set up my practice. For believing in me and offering any help that I need. Your involvement in the community keeps that small town feeling we all crave. You show us what it means to be a true Cochranite. Thank you to the pharmacists and pharmacist technicians for offering me encouragement. I am appreciative of your love of the town and your dedication to the overall wellbeing of your clients. To Pepita for sharing her room and helping make the new office work for the both of us. For the love she shows every person, dedication to learning and her infectious laugh.

I’m thankful for the community of Cochrane. For all the love and support that each person has shown me, especially: Mary Lou, Elaine, Lynette and the BS club. I am thankful for Mrs. Bennett and her passion for teaching the sciences, involvement in sustainability and asking me to help in her dissection classes. For the numerous other teachers that have been an inspiration to reaching an even higher potential.  I am grateful for the Boys and Girls Club and all the good that they do to make this community a better place for the youth of Cochrane. For the church in helping people see a higher purpose to life, bringing community together and spreading love. I want to thank Dr. Long, Dr. Pat, Dr. Fundytus, Dr. Matt, Dr. Carrie and Martha for your inspiration, compassion and encouragement.

I want to express my gratitude to Rocky Mountain Analytical. Your dedication to helping naturopathic doctors and patients work together to reach the height of their health is inspirational.

For my friends and their parents. Thank you for your encouragement, your teasing and still being there even when I went into hiding to get through exams.

Thank you to my Family for believing in me, helping me get through school, being there when I have doubts and putting up with my constant talk about health and nutrition.

I want to thank you the readers for your great questions, for your comments and for reading my articles. Please consider trying this exercise. It’s easy! You can write 3 of them in a journal or even on a sticky note and attach it to your fridge. It doesn’t have to be as long as mine. It’s a nice reminder of what amazing things are in your world.
